Don’t ever let the weather get in the way of exercise and all that you may have accomplished thus far.  Here are 3 tips to maintain your workouts through the Winter months and when it’s cold outside.

1. Stay hydrated.  Believe it or not you can become dehydrated in the winter the same way that you do in the warmer months.  You may not notice as much but everything is dryer in the colder weather.  Drink lots of water before, during and after your workouts even if you aren’t thirsty.  Your skin will love the extra fluids too!

2. Cover your head.  You lose 50% of your body heat through your head so wear a warm hat, it will help keep your ears warm too.  Also protect your hands and feet.  When it’s cold outside your blood flows to the center of your body to keep your internal organs warm leaving your extremities vulnerable to frostbite.

3. Have an indoor backup plan.  Don’t allow the rain, snow or ice get in the way of your workouts.  Keep an eye on the weather report and plan your exercise around it.  If you end up inside because of precipitation try one of the best exercise DVD workouts or the best yoga practice DVD like Yogalosophy.
