3 ways to increase your metabolism; stay regular

Nothing feels worse than bloating, gas and abdominal pain.  If you’re struggling to stay regular, especially as you grow older, there are 3 things that you can do to help move things along and if you stay consistent with them, your slow metabolism will become a thing of the past.  Here are 3 ways to increase your metabolism.

Drink a glass of water when you wake up in the morning.

This is #1 for your metabolism and for also getting your organs to revitalize after sleep.  Experts say a glass of lemon water is key, but I say any water is better than nothing.  Your body is dehydrated when you wake up, so drinking a full glass of water will not only you make you feel better, it will also make you look better.  You might even find that you don’t feel the need to have a coffee in the morning as much as you used to after you experience what a glass of water can do for your system.

Get moving.

I don’t care how you move your body, just move it.  Exercise of any sort turns and twists your body unlike it would if you were sitting still so your organs are moving and grooving also.  Yoga is especially great for increasing your metabolism because numerous poses are actually intended to affect your insides and detox your body.  Try one of my favorite yoga DVDS here.

Eat whole grains and fiber.

Too many people are on the “low carb” diets nowadays and all of that protein is backing us up.  The colon needs and wants whole grains and fiber to move through not only to increase your metabolism, but to also clean out the gunk.  Your body needs carbohydrates to function properly, just be sure they are the healthy whole grain type.
