Craving junk food? Here’s what you should eat

No matter how healthy we try to eat, we all have junk food cravings and that’s ok. Cravings just mean our bodies are lacking something or our hormones are out of sync. Never deprive yourself from enjoying food, no matter what it is from time to time. But if you take a closer look at what it is you’re craving and fulfill it with something that aligns with your healthy lifestyle, you’ll feel so much better physically and mentally.

If you’re craving french fries, eat baked sweet potato fries instead.

Did you know that sweet potatoes are the most nutritious item in the produce aisle? Eat them often. This very special root vegetable contains potassium, carotenoids and tons of Vitamin A. Sweet potatoes are also considered to be a healthy carbohydrate.

If you’re craving potato chips, eat popcorn instead.

Who doesn’t love potato chips from time to time? I know that I do! But if you’re looking to stay on the healthy track eat popcorn instead. It’s a low fat, low calorie, high fiber snack that will fulfill that salty craving. Make at home if you can and season yourself with sea salt and garlic powder if you’d like.

If you’re craving chocolate, eat dark chocolate instead.

When that sweet tooth takes over, snack on a piece of dark chocolate (70% or more). Not only will your sweet craving be quickly satisfied, you will also be jam-packing your body with antioxidants, ultimately protecting yourself from disease and improving brain function.

Instead of cookies, eat nuts and dried fruit instead.

Yes, we all want a cookie, so eat the cookie. But if you really want to fulfill your craving while not undoing your entire day of healthy eating, snack on nuts like almonds and walnuts along with some dried fruit like cranberries. You’ll be shocked at delicious and satisfying this mix will be for you.
