Top 3 Biggest Weight Loss Mistakes

Whether you’re trying to lose weight or just live a healthier lifestyle, there are some common mistakes that can get in the way of your goals. Being aware of the obstacles will help to guide to a healthier way of life for good; here are the top three biggest weight loss mistakes.

Waiting until you’re hungry to eat.

If you take nothing else from this article, please know that until the end of time, planning is essential to living a healthy lifestyle, period, end of story. We have to eat to survive, there’s no doubt about that, but if we wait until we are hungry to find food, it’s almost always going to be an unhealthy choice. My #1 piece of advice to everyone I meet is to ALWAYS have a bag of nuts in your car, your purse or in the cabinet at your house so when you get hungry, you can eat a palmful of nuts and fight off the cravings. Once you’ve got hunger under control you will be able to think more clearly and make healthier choices.

Lack of weekly meal plans.

Whether it’s breakfast, lunch or dinner, you should always be thinking of the next meal and what you’re going to eat so there’s no additional stress added to your busy schedule when it comes to mealtime. If you keep breakfast and lunch basically the same each day, your life will be easier. Dinner can be the most challenging because you usually have to feed more than just yourself and it’s a busy time of the day. Nowadays we’re lucky to have some of the best meal planning online services like PlateJoy that help us get creative healthy while also streamlining grocery store lists and nutritional knowledge.

Going out to dinner.

Yes, you should go out to dinner and enjoy yourself whenever possible. But, when doing so, again, go with some type of a plan. It’s rare that I will ever walk into a restaurant without pulling up the menu on my phone beforehand. Not only do I get caught up in conversation and struggle to focus on the menu when I’m out to dinner, but I sometimes feel pressured and end up ordering something that’s incredibly unhealthy while blowing my whole week of smart choices. In addition, do not go out to dinner on an empty stomach because you will for sure regret your choices and will probably end up overeating. Prepare yourself for everything.
