4 steps to love your body no matter your size or shape

If you are like most women, you probably think negative thoughts about your body everyday. Whether you get a compliment from a friend or your husband, there is almost always an automatic response within yourself that thinks, “ehhhh, my body could be better.” The great news is, no matter your age, size or shape, you have the ability to control the struggle and love your body from here on out. Here are the 4 steps to do that.

Stop the comparisons.

Did you ever hear the saying, “comparison is the thief of joy”? It’s so very true. You are you, and that is your power, so comparing yourself to anyone else on this earth will only make you feel less than because we all are genetically built from different human beings. Yes, we can take control of what we eat, how we move and how we choose to live, but no one can deny the makeup of our bodies. Rejoice in what you’ve been blessed with and embrace who you are; that confidence will make you shine.

Forget about the fashion magazines.

Just stop looking at them! Perfection does not exist, it just doesn’t. Fashion magazines are not reality and even the models on the covers and within the pages fully admit that every picture is edited to make women’s bodies look perfect. And even with this knowledge, women are still trying to live up to the idea of perfection and when they don’t succeed their self-esteem is depleted. So until something hugely changes in the fashion world, just forget about the magazines, stop looking at them.

Be mindful.

Practicing living in this moment right now versus the past or the future can not only boost your self confidence, but will also reduce stress and enable you to cultivate better overall health. You have the power to change how you think about yourself no matter what your age, it just takes a little patience. Taking a few minutes each day for meditation can enhance your life in numerous ways. Also incorporating a weekly yoga practice will keep you mindful all day and enable you to better embrace who you are versus focusing on trivial goals.

Surround yourself with positive.

Yes, this is the ultimate way to love yourself! Surround yourself with positive images, positive messages and positive people who make you feel good about yourself because anything less than that will steal your happiness. Every so often it’s important to take inventory on your life and ask yourself if everything in it is still serving you in a positive way and if it’s not consider letting it go. This is one of the healthiest and most challenging things you can do for your life and self-esteem, and worth it.
