Incorporate these 10 habits; improve your health right now

Are you tired of making promises to yourself to improve your health to only struggle to accomplish them and ultimately give up? Well, those days are over! Starting today, right now actually, you can transform and transition your lifestyle into feeling and looking your best for good. Incorporate these 10 habits and improve your health both mentally and physically today.

Sleep more.

This one seems kind of easy, right? Well, for many of us, getting to bed sleep can be a challenge, not only because of life demands, but also because of bad habits, like staying up late to watch television or checking Facebook. Instead, consider a more calming routine like stretching, simple meditation or taking a bath. Since lack of sleep causes the munchies like smoking pot, be sure to get your 8 hours!

Eat more greens.

It doesn’t really matter what greens you eat, just eat more of them. Consuming green vegetables will change your life, how you feel and how you look. Eat more spinach, broccoli, arugula, kale; whatever you like. Put greens on things and in things you cook.

Go outside.

Get away from “stuff” and go outside. Stopping what you’re doing or even scheduling a specific time to take a break from inside and breath fresh air is essential to good health both mentally and physically.

Drink more water.

Yes, we hear it all of the time, drink at least 8 glasses of water each day, but it’s true, hydration is another essential component to great health. Water consumption has a direct affect on energy levels and metabolism rates. How much water should you really be drinking each day? Found out here.

Eat less salt.

Sodium is everywhere and unfortunately we’ve grown accustomed to it and to a certain level have accepted it. That needs to stop today. Yes, salt makes food taste better, there’s no doubt, but too much salt can cause health issues and some serious bloat. Read every single label, educated yourself, be aware and as often as you can, cook your own food, with sea salt, so that you are in control of your ingredients.

Schedule exercise.

Because “lack of time” is the #1 reason why most people don’t exercise, schedule it, put it on your calendar just like any other appointment. Look, we make time for what’s important to us and yes, most don’t want to take time out of the day to do something we sometimes don’t enjoy. But if you start making the effort today to schedule a little movement, you will find yourself actually enjoying it.

Plan your meals.

Just like exercise, in order to be healthy, food has to be planned. I’m always thinking about the next meal to ensure that I have all of the ingredients so that I can stay on track with healthy eating. Another option for those who struggle to come up with healthy meal ideas is PlateJoy; feel good eat better.

Breathe.

Seems weird to do something you are already doing naturally, right? But there’s a difference to breathing when you focus on it for even just a couple of minutes. Take a few moments to yourself to sit quietly and focus on 10 breaths will make a world of difference in your life. Try it. And by the way, this is actually called meditation.

Spend more time with friends.

Did you know that just chatting with a friend can reduce stress? Whether you pick up the phone to talk for a bit or schedule a girls night, time spent with uplifting true friends can transform your mind, your health and your life.

Practice gratitude.

Did you know that being grateful for what you DO have positively affects your health? Being thankful each day can also make us feel more compassion toward others, better deal with life challenges and more capable of forgiveness. An attitude of gratitude can make you healthier.
