5 Foods That Help Improve Your Memory

Feeling forgetful?  Are you surprised to hear your friends talk about things you did in the past that you truly don’t remember?  Thankfully there is nothing wrong with you as forgetfulness is a normal part of aging.  Believe it or not, there are foods you can eat that will help to improve your memory while also boosting your health into a positive direction, here are 5 of them.

1. Rosemary.  Known to be a fantastic form of aromatherapy, rosemary can relieve anxiety which can naturally improve your memory.  Very easy to grow, a fantastic herb to keep in water in your kitchen and a perfect compliment to roasted potatoes or grilled steak, so many reasons why you should make rosemary a part of your diet today.

2. Salmon.  A very special oily fish rich in omega-3 fatty acid; which is an essential nutrient for the performance of the brain, especially memory.  The oils in salmon help keep the brain cells flexible so messages can pass through much eaiser.  Grilled salmon a few times a week or (if you don’t like fish) taking a fish oil supplement will help improve your memory.

3. Eggs.  One of my favorite things to eat everyday (have you read my “how to boil the perfect egg” here?) for the protein that keeps me feeling full for hours is also known to help improve the memory.  Eggs contain choline, a nutrient known to produce acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter that speeds things up in your brain to help memory.

4. Green Tea.  Turns out green tea isn’t just one of the best ways to cleanse and detox your system like we talked about here, it also helps to boost your memory.  Green tea contains the antioxidant EGCG (epigallocatechin-3 gallate) which is known to fight off memory loss.  Green tea is the bomb in so many ways so drink up!!  Learn 9 more reasons why you should be drinking green tea here.

5. Strawberries & Blueberries.  Who doesn’t love berries?  Adding them to pancakes or a blended drink is pretty easy to do especially in the summer and not only do they taste delicious, they also slow the rate of age-related memory loss.  All you have to do is eat about a 1/2 cup per week to make an impact.
