Have you ever wondered what you should eat before and after a workout?  Or even if you should eat at all? It’s best to eat something one to two hours before exercising consisting of 100-200 calories of mostly carbohydrates for energy so you can power through your workout. Best foods to eat before a workout would be a small bowl of oatmeal with a banana, whole grain toast with a little peanut butter or half a sweet potato. These healthy carbs will positively affect your workouts and fulfill your hunger pains throughout.

After you’ve finished your workout, try to eat 20-60 minutes following so that your body can use the nutrients in the food for recovery.  Mix up proteins with healthy carbs, sticking to about 400 calories.  Best foods to eat after a workout would be grilled chicken with brown rice, yogurt with almonds, whole grain toast with a hard-boiled egg and avocado or even a protein bar (just be sure it’s low in sugar).  My absolute favorite post-workout food is shown above; whole grain English muffin (100 calorie) topped with salad greens, an egg and tomato; so delicious, healthy and nutrient-rich.  Now go kick some butt!
