It’s true! Laughter is the best medicine; here’s why

This is me as a child, on Cape Cod; where I’m my happiest.

Did you ever wonder why laughing makes you feel so good?  Well, it turns out laughter, over anything else, is the best medicine for your mind and your body.  Laughing not only feels good, it is actually contagious, and when shared, the happiness that occurs binds us together, creating more intimacy for our relationships.

When we laugh our bodies release endorphins that promote an overall sense of well-being that can let us forget about our problems, and that feeling can stay with us long after the laughter subsides. Laughing helps to reduce conflict, promotes bonding, attracts us to others, adds joy to our lives and improves our mood overall.

Laughter is the best medicine for our physical health too because it strengthens our immune system, can prevent heart disease, boosts our energy levels, diminishes pain and lessens our stress.  There is nothing, not even a pill, that works faster to improve our mood and balance our lives and health more than laughter.
