Stop complaining for one month; experience incredible change

We’re programmed to complain, even about the simplest things that we can take for granted each day.  Whether it be about the traffic on our way to work or an event we don’t feel like attending, take a moment to consider how much complaining can negatively affect our lives.  Stop complaining for one month and experience these incredible changes in your life.

Make the commitment

Starting today, right now, make the commitment to not complain for 30 days, even mark your calendar if you’d like.  Now, every time you catch yourself going to the dark side, about to complain about something, remind yourself of something positive that has happened to you recently.  It may be a compliment someone gave you or a really good laugh you had with a friend.  Thinking about something that makes you smile will help to pull yourself out a funk.  It’s also important to remind yourself each day of 3 things that you are grateful for, that without, you’d be lost, learn more about this here.  We all have so much positive in our lives versus negative, but for some reason, we just have a tendency to focus on the bad versus the good.

Focus on what you want in your life

We attract what we put out into the world.  People don’t want to surround themselves with negativity or someone who is always complaining about something; especially when they have so much to be thankful for.  Rather than focusing on what you don’t have, focus on what you do have and want to attract.  When you start to think about the negatives that could occur, tell yourself the opposite.  For instance, when you think, “This work dinner is going to be so boring!”, instead say something like, “I’m looking forward to trying the new menu at this work dinner, it’s going to be a great time!”  Even if you don’t fully believe what you’re saying, put it out into the atmosphere and go with it.

Stop the negative self talk

We have a tendency, especially us women, to look into the mirror each day and focus on what we perceive as wrong versus right.  This can be quite a challenge, but instead, each day for the next month say something positive about yourself out loud every morning. You will be amazed at how a simple self-compliment such as, “My eye makeup came out good today”, can diminish the pimple on your chin; which by the way, most people won’t even notice anyway.

The lesson learned through this challenge is that the more you do something, the better you will become at it.  You will notice a considerable change in your life at the end of these 30-days and will hopefully take it with you from here on out.  Share this concept with your friends too because happiness loves company!
