Learn how to feel happy everyday; 4 healthy habits

Spread the love

It’s been well documented that the happiest people consistently practice healthy habits everyday to lift themselves up and to fight off any negative thoughts that have tried to make their way into their minds. We have the power to shape our lives through our thoughts so let’s strive to make them happy ones.

Although you can achieve happiness through mindfulness, it must be noted that no one on this earth is upbeat and positive all of the time because that is delusional.  Life throws us curve balls when we least expect it that are going to bring us down and that is completely normal.  We can’t control the uncontrollable, we only can control how we react to it.

But with that being said, striving to stay optimistic no matter what challenges come your way is the first step to consistent happiness.  As an incurable optimist myself, I can say that seeing the bright side has helped me through some of the most difficult times in my life.  Optimists are known to be healthier and more successful individuals because they see opportunity in difficulty and learn from it, then share that knowledge with others.

Here are 4 healthy habits that can also help you feel happy everyday.

Focus on your strengths

Because we all have them, creating a daily practice to remind ourselves what we’re really good at is an uplifting and motivating way to start each day.  Whether it be your kindness, honesty or compassion for others, focus on that strength and be aware of how much you have to offer the world.

Practice gratitude

Since most of us wake up facing a day of things we mostly don’t want to do, taking a moment before getting out of bed to remind yourself of 3 things your grateful for will increase happiness significantly.  Whether it be something within that very moment or something you’re looking forward to in the near future, everyone has something to be grateful for.  Practicing daily gratitude not only makes you happy, it also elevates kindness, self-esteem and reduces pessimism and social comparison.

Create a mantra

One of the best mindful practices you can do is create a vision for becoming your best self and repeating that mantra each day.  It can just be one sentence or a few words that you say to yourself that will improve optimism and self-esteem throughout the day.  For example, and depending on your particular situation, you could tell yourself, “I am courageous, I am strong” or “If it didn’t scare me, I wouldn’t grow”.  Try it, you’ll see.

Write it down

It’s called journaling nowadays, but I just say, write it down, because that’s all it is.  Take a couple minutes in the morning or before bed and write down your hope for the day or what you may have learned that particular day.  Writing down your thoughts clears the mind, helps you learn, sets an intention and improves optimism; therefore making you feel happier!
