10 Promises to better self care

Spread the love

Consider making these promises to yourself today!

So often, we worry more about what others think of us rather than what we think of ourselves; which is a back door entrance to a healthy life. What’s most important is that we go to bed each night proud of ourselves, who we are and the steps we made each day to better self care. The following 10 promises will not only improve your life, but will also set a standard to others of what you will allow; which ultimately surrounds you with a higher level tribe and an incredibly healthier life.

Say exactly what you mean.

This can be tough at times, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t say exactly what you mean and mean what you say. Your word means everything, stand by it and be proud of it.

Trust your instincts.

It’s so true, if your gut speaks to you, listen attentively. Your mind and body work together and it’s important to know enough to trust what they’re saying to you.

Let go of what you can’t control.

When something is out of our control it can be depleting and depressing. Always do your best, but know when to let go by telling yourself you’ve done everything that you can so that you can live in peace.

Stay away from drama and negativity.

Some people thrive on drama, and with that comes tons of negativity, stay away! Yes, bad things happen to good people, but when there is a pattern of it there’s usually more to the story and it shouldn’t be part of yours.

If it feels wrong, don’t do it.

This goes back to your gut and being in touch with yourself even in those split second decision moments. Just because everyone else is going to do it, doesn’t mean that you should also. Stand up and do the right thing, always.

Don’t be a people pleaser.

Oh my, this was me for most of my life! I wanted everyone to be happy all of the time even if it meant I wasn’t. Who wants to spend their precious time on this earth living this way? Not me. Putting yourself first is not selfish, it’s self care.

Never give up on your dreams.

No matter how old you might be, don’t let that deter you, never give up on all of things you’ve dreamed about. Set goals, write them down, think about what you want and take the steps, even small steps, to achieve them.

Don’t be afraid to say “no”.

It’s ok to say no. It’s ok to give yourself more time. It’s ok to not do everything you’re asked to do. Kindly excuse yourself, be honest and put yourself first.

Never speak badly about yourself.

What we tell ourselves matters, a lot. We believe what we say even within our own heads. Tell yourself, and others, that you are beautiful, you are smart, you are kind and an incredible friend. Believe in you!

This should be the biggest word in our vocabulary. Love YOU first and foremost because without self-love it’s difficult to love others the way they should be loved. Love is powerful. Love is deep. Love as much as you possibly can.
