6 Positives we can appreciate right NOW

I’m not sure about you, but I’ve been on the hunt for anything positive lately! It’s essential to be educated on what is going on in our world from day to day, but for our mental health, in my opinion, news should be kept to a minimum. So I’ve pulled together 5 positives we can appreciate right now as we make our way through this difficult time.

Getting projects accomplished; finally!

Most of us never have had time to get that bedroom painted, or huge closet organized, until now. It feels so good to live in a freshly cleaned, organized space and also have a sense of accomplishment at the end of the day. So, if you haven’t yet, use this time wisely and get some bigger projects done.

If you feel overwhelmed with all that needs to be done in your home, write a list of achievable goals and work through them the best that you can. Also, don’t be afraid to delegate helping hands from your kids and husband throughout this extra time at home.

Better self-care.

This is one that hopefully will stick long after the coronavirus has been controlled. Yes, we all should have been washing our hands religiously and being more aware of germs before this situation, but let’s hope this positive will have lifelong affect on us all going forward.

Also, knowing that going to the doctor is almost impossible right now, definitely has an affect on us all in taking better care of ourselves. Having extra time to exercise, eat mindfully, practicing some yoga and meditation, all has a positive affect on your health and well-being.

Our pets are getting tons of attention

More walks, more cuddles, more love given to our pets is one of the best things that has come out of this pandemic. Not only are currently owned pets getting more attention, but so many are getting adopted and fostered that wouldn’t have otherwise. Everyday I’m seeing more and more dogs being walked by my house that I’ve never seen before, and it’s marvelous!

Astonishing decline in pollution.

For the first time in a very long time, I just paid less than two dollars per gallon for gas to fill my car. In fact, I actually took advantage of the lower price and also filled my tanks for my lawnmower, leaf blower, etc so I’m all ready for the summer.

And with this good news, along with less travel because we’re all ‘staying home’ right now, there’s been an astonishing decline in pollution. In fact, NYC just reported that the air is cleaner than it has ever been since monitoring began in 2008. Now that is something to be happy about!

Kindness and consideration is at an all time high

The coronavirus is contagious, but so is kindness, and we need as much as we can get of the latter right now. If nothing else good comes from this uncertain time, it’s a wake up call to knock us out of our routines and look up for a minute to check on your neighbor, offer assistance to someone in need or just be considerate of others at the grocery store, at a safe distance of course.

There’s a reason why kindness is good for your health; spread it as often as you can.

Discovering new talents

Whether you’ve learned how to cut your husband’s hair, color yours or taken up learning Spanish, hopefully by now we’ve all discovered a new talent of some kind. It’s incredible how much we can learn from the internet nowadays from how to play the guitar to how to cook anything.

So, if you haven’t already, take a moment to think about a couple things you’ve always wanted to learn and write them down. Consider putting some time aside each week to conquer these interests; there’s no better time like the present.

BE HEALTHY!
